Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris, France, to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson both lawyers. At five years old she relocated to Oxfordshire, where she was a student at the Dragon School. Emma was aware from the age of she was six years old that she wanted to be an actress. For several years she studied at the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch which was where she learned dancing, singing, acting and much more. The stagecoach was her main performer and played the role of lead in various Stagecoach productions. In 1999, casting started for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001), the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents through her Oxford theater teacher. After eight consistent auditions David Heyman revealed to Emma and Rupert Grint (other applicants) that they had been selected to play Hermione Gringer, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut screen performance in cinema was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). It was the top-grossing feature in 2001, breaking records for opening-day sales as well as opening-weekend runs. The film was praised by critics as well as the performance of its young actors. The widely distributed British newspaper, 'The Daily Telegraph' was awed by her performance and called it "admirable". Emma received the Young Artist Award as Leading Young Actress in a Film Film, and was later nominated for five prizes. After the release of the first film of the highly successful franchise, Emma became one of the most popular actresses across the world. Hermione Granger remained her role for nearly ten years in the Harry Potter films. Emma received two Critics' Choice Awards nominations from Broadcast Film Critics Association.
