Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, an actor and musician, is famous for playing hard-edged characters or funny characters in action films. Bruce Willis has been featured in over $2.5 billion worth of films. Walter Bruce Willis, a West German-born actor, was born in Idar–Obersteinin West Germany on March 19 1955. He was the son of Marlene Kassel (from Carneys Point), and David Andrew Willis (from New Jersey) who resided on a base for the military in the United States. The family moved to the U.S. shortly after he was born. He was raised in Penns Grove, New Jersey in which his mother worked in a bank and where his father worked as a welder as well as a factory worker. Willis began to develop an interest in the drama arts at high school. He was "discovered" as a bartender in a New York City cafe. Later, he appeared on various off-Broadway productions. While bartending one night, he was seen by the casting director who was impressed by his character and was looking for bartenders for a minor film role. Willis was a part of many auditions before being cast in the cult romantic comedy, Moonlighting (1985), as David Addison. His witty and sarcastic P.I. is viewed by some as a dry run for the role of the hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the monster-movie Die Hard (1988), in the film, Willis his character fought the ruthless international thieves within the Los Angeles skyscraper. In the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990), Willis reprised his character as McClane. The plot set in Washington's Dulles International Airport where a group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers are trying to reclaim a corrupt South American general. The film's stellar box-office results led to the sequel, Die Hard with bloodshed (1995). This time Samuel L. Jackson starred as a cynical Harlem shopkeeper who was unwittingly forced into helping McClane during a terrorist attack on a hot New York City day.
